These trousers were designed to intentionally represent the deflated form of an inflatable costume. We reconstructed the silhouette of a hippo mascot costume that has deflated and collapsed onto the floor. The result is a pair of trousers with a mysterious three-dimensional quality, where only traces of the original volume remain.
The air, which asserted its presence when inflated, causes the shape to collapse the moment it escapes. Invisible air supports the form, and its release creates a sense of stillness. Perhaps it wasn't the fabric that created the shape, but the air contained within it.
